Clean cooking – where do we stand? |NL Energy Compact Cafe|
June 12, 2026
Last Thursday, Dutch Spark for Clean Cooking Solutions hosted the NL Energy Compact Café in Utrecht, bringing together Dutch actors across the energy access and clean cooking sphere for an afternoon of discussion and networking.
With the launch of the Dutch climate policy brief and today’s energy situation as backdrop, the question on the table was: where does clean cooking stand?Danielle Drost, Senior Policy Officer at the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, framed the policy context, and Jan Cloin – RVO, walked us through Mission 300 progress and what it means for Dutch actors. Our panel, Neera van der Geest – FairClimate Fund, Aart de Heer – Mimi Moto, and Rodick Weideveld – Solarchef, reflected on what they are working on, what blocks scale, and where they see opportunity. The session was moderated by Jeroen Blüm – BIX Capital, who concluded that the impact case for clean cooking is strong, touching upon climate, health, gender, household economics, institutional energy use and resilience all in one.Scaling will not come from technology alone, requiring finance, carbon-market integrity, affordability, user adoption, policy alignment and strong partnerships – and in the context of Mission 300 and the NL Energy Compact in the context of Mission 300 and the NL Energy Compact, these opportunities can be made more concrete, and that starts with Dutch actors coming together.
Thank you to all speakers and attendees for a good afternoon.
