African Clean Energy has won the EY Social Impact Award 2021!
In 2011, Ruben Walker and his father Stephen founded African Clean Energy, after notifying that cooking on open fire was problem for both the health of people in disadvantaged regions as well as for their environment. ACE produces and distributes solar-biomass hybrid energy systems to people in Lesotho, Cambodia and Uganda. The cooking devices cannot only be used as a cooking appliance but also as a charger. In this way, the smart cooking devices improve people’s health, contribute to clean air, lower the fire risk and reduce deforestation. ACE is a B Corp-certified enterprise. The majority of ACE’s staff is women.
